Senior Technical Project Manager (and positive impact leader!)

Candidates must have a minimum 4 years’ experience in directly relevant Project Manager roles. If successful, you will build relationships with partners and suppliers across private, public and 3rd sector organisations, to deliver our exciting new multi-sport venues. You will project manage all aspects of the design, build, test and launch of – including social impact initiatives.

We’re looking for a passionate, energetic, and experienced Project Manager. One who has a track record of building great relationships with partners and suppliers whilst ensuring they deliver, in tight timescales.

You’ll be thoroughly organised, process-minded and maintain exceptional standards. You will collaborate to ensure rapid progress by avoiding problems in advance. You will be a people-motivator, who cuts through complexity.

However, we also want you to have a good sense of fun(!) allowing your positive energy, purpose and values to come through in your work.

We also want to hear from people who have transferable skills and a passion for learning, and being part of a social impact movement. You DON’T need to tick all the desired boxes/examples.

Responsibilities

 

Strategic & entrepreneurial

  • Develop strategies and plans to achieve project outcomes and benefits, our mission and strategic aims
  • Contribute to venue business ideas, social impact initiatives, planning and budgeting
  • Refine governance model & process

 

Delivery

Ensuring delivery against business case and overall programme plan.  Accountable for all aspects of a multi-activity venue. With responsibilities including:

  • Drive the structure and delivery of our overall objectives, that each venue will enable
  • Lead high performing teams and support them to deliver planned benefits to customers and communities by delivering:
  • Deliver the physical site and infrastructure
  • Collaborate with venue operations workstreams to
    • Ensure operational team, equipment processes & systems are fully tested and launched to standards required
    • Deliver all core offerings (activities, events programme; food & beverage; other CX; amenities)
  • Direct the launch of community impact projects/initiatives with partners (local, regional & national)
  • Ensure effective quality assurance
  • Support the Programme Manager (e.g. benefits management, masterplans, budgets,)

 

Experience and qualities

  • 4 years’ [essential criteria] as the accountable Project Manager for complex, multidisciplinary built environment projects i.e. multi-party projects and workstreams
  • Accountable for direct supplier and contract management (ideally multi £m NEC3/4)
  • Building strong relationships whilst being a stickler for exceptional standards
  • Creative ‘big picture thinker’ focused on long-term goals with pragmatic, solution focus
  • Supporting programme and portfolio planning
  • Building effective relationships with private, public and 3rd sector partners and suppliers

 

Skills and knowledge: 

  • Leading multi-stakeholder planning sessions
  • Highly experienced in financial planning, risk and change control
  • Presenting concise reports to executive level upward
  • [desirable] Sports / recreation / leisure and social impact project management or at least knowledge and experience of in a professional context
  • Fully proficient in applying relevant construction, project and programme management methods pragmatically. (e.g. RIBA, BIM, MMC, MSP, PRINCE2)
  • Highly proficient with project planning and collaboration tools (we use Monday.com) or MS Project; MS 365/Teams; Miro.
  • Structured thinker, problem solver with excellent written and verbal communication

Specifics

Type: Part time
Location: Flexible base with remote working possible.
50-65k (Full time) capabilities + experience dependent.
